REAR ADMIRAL (RADM) ANTONIO A. HABULAN, JR. AFP Rear Admiral (RADM) Antonio Apostol Habulan Jr. O-8258 AFP was born on May 2, 1959 in Quezon City. Before he entered the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in 1977, he was a Mining Engineering student at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a regular officer in the Armed Forces of The Philippines (AFP), joining the Philippine Navy and becoming member of PMA “Dimalupig” Class of 1981. A man of exceptional flair, he bagged the prestigious Philippine Navy Saber having graduated as Number 1 in the Navy Group of his class. As a line and staff officer of the Philippine Navy, RADM Habulan, Jr. AFP specialized in the fields of intelligence, naval operations, coast guard operations, international relations, and fiscal management. Early in his career, he was assigned to various key positions. He had been the Commanding Officer Task Group 91.1, Task Force Tigershark, NISF (Naval Intelligence Security Force); IS-3, IS-5 and Chief Intel Operations Center, NISF; Station Commander, Coast Guard Station, Pasig; Commanding Officer, Fleet Training Group, Philippine Fleet; Executive Officer, J2; Commander, NISF; Assistant Chief of Naval Staff, N2; Commander of the Naval Intelligence and Security Force, Naval Attaché to the United States; Deputy Commander, NETC (Naval Education and Training Command); Commander Naval Forces, Eastern Mindanao; and Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, J1. As J1, he served in various Boards and Committees the more notable of which are: Trustee, AFP Mutual Benefit Association, Inc., Trustee, AFP Retirement and Separation Benefit System. As a Surface Warfare Officer, he served as Commanding Officer of five (5) navy vessels, namely: (1) BRP Carlos Albert, PG-375; (2) BRP Jose Loor, PG-390; (3) BRP Mangyan, AS-71; (4) BRP Malvar PS-19; and (5) BRP Rizal PS-74. His various assignments earned him numerous awards and commendations. The more significant of which are the seven Distinguished Service Stars, Philippine Legion of Honor, Degree of Officer, Outstanding Achievement Medal, Flag Rank Command Badge, Command-at-Sea Badge, along with many other medals and ribbons. With his passion to learn and excel, RADM Habulan, Jr. AFP has further advanced his schooling, most notable of which are the Naval Intelligence Officer’s Course at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, Foreign Officer’s Supplementary List Executive Course in Australia, Coast Guard Station Commander’s Course and Master in Management, Major in Acquisition & Contracts at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, USA. Known to his friends and loved ones as “Tony”, RADM Habulan, Jr. AFP is an avid reader who is fond of playing badminton and golf. He is happily married to Helena and they are blessed with four sons and a daughter namely Raphael Antonio, Emanuel, Gabriel, Jan Noel and Angelica. He retired from the Philippine Navy on May 2, 2015. |
